Synopsis
Based on true events, I Used To Cry: The Essence of Essence, is an epic coming of age novel that captivates the reader from beginning to end. An emotional tale chronicling the life of Essence, a young girl from the streets of Inkster, Michigan. She had it all. A good home, loving family and friends, beauty, and brains. When a traumatic turn of events changes her life forever, Essence is left emotionally crippled with a jaded perception of self, life, and love. For years her life is in shambles. She finds herself on a path of destruction fueled by pain, struggling to pick up the pieces. All she wants is to be loved, and accepted for who she is, but not even she knows the true answer to that question. Will she ever find what she's looking for? Take this journey with Essence as she discovers the true essence of herself.

Author E. N. Hardy

Author E. N. Hardy was born and raised in Inkster, Michigan. Writing became a passion for her at a very young age, as an outlet, and as a means to deal with trying circumstances. She loves to write poetry, erotica, and in her own words "emotional fiction." The only thing that matters to her is the way you "feel" after reading her work. She enjoys a career in healthcare education, and does lots of reading in her spare time. Her all-time favorite author is V. C. Andrews, with Frank McCourt being a very close second. In 2012 she began working on her debut novel, I Used To Cry: The Essence of Essence. She currently resides in the Metro Detroit area with her husband and four children.

I'm 35, living in the UK and have been published for nearly 12 years. I write young adult fiction, usually crime/mystery but have an ongoing series that has paranormal elements to it and have also written a contemporary romance and other works. I'm working on my next two books, and have my eleventh due for release on June 30th.

What gives you inspiration to write?
I'm disabled so I spend a lot of time stuck at home and/or in bed. I find inspiration from life. I people watch out of the window in my office, think up various scenarios and just try to think up new worlds. It usually does the trick :)

What advice would you give an author who is uncertain about their future in the literature world?
Having been there myself a couple of years ago, my advice would be to keep going. I know it's hard when it feels like you're sinking down and there's no one to catch you. I know it sucks when you feel like all you're doing is treading water, but you're the only one who can tell your story. So keep going because people want to read it.

I grew up in London and lived in Israel, before somehow ended up in St. Louis, where I work as a puzzle constructor and writer. I live with her husband, two children, and a very opinionated feline. I'm the author of the P.A.W.S. Saga and have short stories in several anthologies including Fauxpocalypse, Shades of Fear, Darkly Never After, Sins of the Past, and Heroes & Villains. I also created the puzzle book, Paws 4 Logic, together with my son, Joey. I believe that with enough tea and dark chocolate you can achieve anything!

Anything and everything. I'm a huge people watcher and often folk I see out and snippets of conversation I overhear end up in my stories.

What advice would you give an author who is uncertain about their future in the literature world?
Just write. Write the stories that are inside you. Worry about the publishing stuff later.

Twenty six year old with an imagination that never stops. Spent most of my youth daydreaming about stories I read or dreamed up in my mind. Once I graduated from college, I decided to put those worlds and characters to paper. I write NA and YA fantasy and paranormal romance. :)

What gives you inspiration to write?
Honestly? Reading a good story. After I finish a book, my mind is filled with the world and characters. My imagination is sparked and I can be occupied for days. It is much more rewarding than watching a movie or tv show (for me at least). I write with the aspiration of facilitating that reaction for other book lovers.

What advice would you give an author who is uncertain about their future in the literature world?
Uncertainty and doubt are normal. But you know what? No one else can tell your stories. They are yours alone and unique to you. Write the story. Once finished, investigate the sometimes daunting world of marketing and promotion of your work. Those things are important for successful launches and gaining readers but irrelevant if you allow those tasks to discourage you from entering the world of literature. Honor your imagination by writing the story. Take the rest in digestible chunks as you go.
